  • Question : are the auto trans mounts the same 90-96?

would a 90 4 speed 3.1 lumina trans bolt in place of a 96 sunfire auto trans to the body? i got a 96 sunfire in great shape but the engine is trashed & im considering putting the 3.1 & trans in the sunfire.

will the sunfire cv shafts mount up as well as the sunfire trans mounts?

yea... ive been looking around at as many pics as i could find & the mounts dont look alike at all. i was hoping maybe the whole gm compatibility thing would play into my favor but i guess not!

From what I have seen, the transaxles only share common mounts within the same car-line.

They will fit the only real difference is in '94 they went to a hydraulic mount. If you want more smoothness get the hydrualic mount, otherwise the solid '88-'93 mount will suffice.

would the cv shafts from the sunfire work with or without a little modification-or could i get 3.1 sunbird cv shafts & have them work?

The drive axles are longer on a W body plus the diameter of the outbarod spline is bigger, so no you cannot.
