  • Gears, all wrong.

well imho anyway. when i floor my 91 z34 lumina (auto and i cant think of an engine mod i have other than a redtop battery and bigger washer fluid tank) lol but when i floor the car, 1st gear will take it to about 65kmh. give or take a couple ks. 2nd gear however, will take the sum-bitch all the way up to 130 or better... ive yet to take it on the highway and try it. is this normal? needless to say if i havent quite topped out 2nd, i havent topped out 3rd or 4th. im guessing ive got a governor on this thing anyhow.

-lol on a side note, i need to do breaks... i wont say where i did it or why or how or anything, but my car had to go from 160 - 0. well, i went from over drive to drive, and i tried not to hammer the breaks, as i know theyre probably old with only 106,xxx km on it when i bought it and it sat for a year or two.
well when 0 came about... i had to sit at a red light. (i guess i just said why) and i had some nice- nice -nice smoke commin off both front wheels. lol the steeringwheel doesnt vibrate or anything. but after them burning like that i think they could use to be re-done. and possibly bled too. hahaha oops.

There are several gearing options for the trans in your car, and I am assuming it's a 3t40 (TH125)

The info is available on here however if you can't find it PM me and I'll send it to you.

Does your trans still have the tag on it? Should be right below the master cylinder on the top of the trans.

That will determine just what you are dealing with and help you decide where you may want to go as far as mods are concerned.

Just a warning. This stuff can get alittle expensive. Been there done that game!!.

Cheap brake pads and chunky w bodys at speed are a terrible combo. I've had the same thing happen where smoke comes from brakes after a stop like that also accompanied by terrible brake fade and a rock hard pedal.

I upgraded to 94-96 rear brake calipers and ceramic pads all around - it is much better. There are some other options too but they start to get pricey. I think the 94 rears + good pads all around work well for my needs.

With 2nd being 1.52:1 you are going to wind it out pretty good. If you hold it in gear and run the engine up to 6500RPM you should be at 90-100 mph.

Get some Ceramic pads as they just work alot better. BTW you will smoke the brakes if you slow down to zero from a speed like that. If you rear calipers are working ok, get the stainles steel slider bushing kit for the rears, it'll keep them from sticking.
