  • Question : gear ratio diff between 4 and 6 cyl beretta?

I race two front wheel drive cars that I race on a quarter mile paved track. I'm trying to solve a mystery about the transmissions. I have the 125 3 speed trannies. One of my cars has a tranny from a 4 cylinder and the other from a 6 cylinder. Is there a difference in the gear ratios? It seem so by driving the cars. Also, is there a difference in the torque converters? If there is a difference in either one or both, does anyone know a certain tranny or converter or combination of both that would enhance my performance on the track?

There are three different differentials that were used in the 3t40 and four different Drive/Driven gear sets. A total of 12 different FDR's that were available.

There were several different converters used.

Do a search and I'm sure you will find all the info.

Any tags left on your transmissions? you can typically search the tag ID and get the converter stall speed and gear ratio used.
