  • diff 4t60-4t65

I read both postings on the 4t60 to 4t65 diff. What was decided?

    I'm looking at getting a torsen for the 4t65e, part # 88958682.

I looked at transtar catalog and it doesn't give a difference in the hard part diff, from 60-65, only ratio. GM Performance doesn't specify if the torsen diff is HD or not, which means I have no idea of what ratio it is, or if I have to worry about axle lengths like i read about.

What I'm seeing in my research is a standard 65 diff should be a drop in to a standard 60. THe weirdo spline counts exempted.
sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

i do believe you are correct about the 60/65E diff being the same. the spiders are machined differently for the bigger axles on the 65E. i don't see why you should have to worry about axle lengths between the two.
