  • No 1st gear

1997 Monte Carlo LS auto 190,000 mi.
Did a voltage check at the EGR valve electrical lead and accidently shorted 2 wires. Blew the PCM fuse, replaced fuse, now i have no first gear. Has reverse. Car accelerates in second, will shift to 3rd and then overdrive. Fluid is normal. Any suggestions to check?......Tom

see if you actually killed the shift solenoid(or its wiring) that deals with 1st?

yes it did. may have gotten a little power to the ecm just before the fuses blew. sounds like you did a type of re-flash for the tranny. it's amazing how computers work and how a little accident can make one little thing not work.
