GM said to fill little over 2 pints... i brought 3 qt of snyromesh fluids.. im not sure how much it will need to be filled up. and is there anything else i should do to change tranny fluid? like the auto ones change the fluid n the tranny fluid fliter, does getrag needs that?

Nope, just do like you do your oil, sans filter. Drain, put the plug back in, refill, and go! On second thought, take it around the block a bit to warm it up so the fluid thins out a little to help it drain out.

Just use synchromesh. It is the best tranny fluid for any manual with synchros there is. Even import guys use it because nothing works better.
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

I'm using Royal Purple Syncromax in mine, haven't driven it much but it seems to be working ok. Normally i use Penzoil Syncromesh though.

heres some intersting info i just found out today by 3 different manual book from 1991 1992 1993

                      MANUALS says
-1991 requires 2.0 qt to add
-1992 requires 2.25 qt to add
-1993 requires 2.25 qt to add

strange, since 1991-1993 3.4 dohc uses same 284 getrag tranny. why is 1991 different? jw

I was wondering about that, because I DO KNOW that the Royal purple can be used in many applications as a replacement.

Either your stealership is overcharging or inflation is really biting down hard there. I wouldn't be shocked either way though. My local stealership charged me about $10/qt of the GM stuff the last time I checked.
