  • G6 6 Speed ?

anyone seen a G6 6 Speed mated to a gen 1 or any of our motors ? the citation group on yahoo showa guy that did it. very interesting.....

hooking it up to the motor isn't that bad, its the same bolt pattern the 60*s have always used, its hooked up to a 3.9, which is a HV motor, meaning it'll be fine.

mounting it to the frame is another issue...

actually i remember seeing a 91-96 GP with the B4U(?) body kit that had it....

if i ever do get my monte converted over to a manual, the F40 is my choice.

you can even get them brand new for $250 somewhere, i just cant remember where though

the easiest way to fix that would be to change the final drive ratio... but i don't know if thats possible. i know with the 4t60e there are like 4 ratios to chose from but i don't know what you can do with manuals... especially since the f40 only went in 1 vehicle with 1 engine(not counting foreign stuff).

you don't have to shift gears in order. if you have enough torque, you can skip gears. i found that out while driving an RSX-S. for the city driving, i'd only use 2,4, and 6 gears and it did fine.

1st gear that low would be great for bumper to bumper traffic. no, Acura doesn't have GM's 6 spd. i used that example for comparison. that car...you shift A LOT in town. however, it has max power at about 8,000 rpm, so a close ratio gearbox is good. our lower rpm engines with so much more midrange torque, don't really need a close ratio tranny.

LOL, 3500. With my auto I'm turning like 2150 at 75mph. 3000 is where I start making good power, so with that 4spd manual, I'd never have to downshift to pass on the highway... LOL
