You'd probably have to remove the subframe. And did you remember to unbolt the torque convertor from the flexplate?-Brad-

I did this a coupla weekends ago...Prolly one of the easiest things I've ever done on my car. Make sure you remove all of the bolts from the "bellhousing" and like bszopi said the bolts that connect the flywheel to the torque converter. Drop the sub frame, pull the axles and disconnect the tranny from the mount. If the trany moves freely, you might need to shake/rock the tranny and pull it away from the engine. Keep in mind that all of this was on a '91 beretta with a TH125 auto tranny, and it might be harder for your car. Hope this helps1991 Chevy Beretta GT auto

I know some guys think replacing a 4t60 is "not that bad" but I could name a hell of alot easier jobs such as replacing the alternator, tail light bulb, checking the oil etc. Anyway check this link cause i was originally going to do mine from the top untill I figured out the master cylinder would have to come out. Ended up out the bottom with a floor jack.2004 Grand Am GT 3400 ... I had the right to remain silent, I just didn't have the ability.(Ron White)
