  • Question : trans issue

I am having a wierd problem with my 97 lumina recently it has started
to make a grinding noise when you go from reverse to drive.
Like i back out of my driveway and stop then put it in drive and it will just
sit there and make like a grinding growling sound and there is a slight vibration from the floorboard.
If i put it back in reverse i backs up like normal but if i put it back in drive it will still make the noise but not move after switching back to reverse and drive a few times it will stop and act normal.
It has never done it without going into reverse first if i park where i can take off without backing up it doesn't do it. The fluid is full and i am clueless.
    any help will be great.
    ideas anyone?

It is definately internal. I'm sure you fluid is starting to look alittle purpl. SOudns like the Forward roller clutch and or reaction sun assembly. You will need to tear it down...

      That sounds bad.
      Thanks for the reply.
I will probably look for another trans or car it started making a whiney
type noise when it is cold and the fluid has a slight brown tint to it.
I might try changing the fluid and strainer just for kicks and see if i find any parts floating around.
