  • Question : Isuzu MK7 & 3400

I bought a 3400 and MK7 trans recently and need to know how much power the trans can hold. Ive done some searching on the forums and it seems like I need to find a set of JDM Isuzu gears if I wanna put this thing behind anything with real power. I plan on making a 3400/3500 hybrid with possibly up to 275 TQ. So I want to know what rout I should go with the Isuzu or without.

Ditch it. That tranny wont hold itself together behind any 6 out there. I had that same tranny behind the iron duke years ago in a 91 GA and it made to much power for it. It might hold for a short period of time, but mine split the case, the internal shafts moved and ground all the gears up..

      Get a HM282 or a NVG T550 from any 5 speed V6 Cavalier/Beretta. Scrap the 4cyl trans.
