can any one tell me if the earlyer getrag 282 would have all the same mounting holes as the nvg t550. i ask because for the nvg to fit my car i need one with two mounts the problem is they only came wit two mounts in 93-94 in a cav z24 wonderin if i could bolt the two mounts to a older tranny that orig came with one mount? any help appericeated.

the HM282 and NVG T-550 are nearly identical. The only issue you might have is the VSS.. And of course the slave type, the 93-94 cavalier trannies had an internal slave, 92 and older had external.

You can swap the bellhousings around, sometimes you need to swap the reverse rail which is pretty easy.


more information is needed though, what kind of car?

all the V6 5 speed cavaliers have one upper mount and one lower that bolts to the dogbone, those 2 brackets are the same from 1994 down to atleast 1988.

it would be going in to a third gen cavalier. on j-body they say to swap in a nvg i basicaly need to use the nvg front mount and stock isuzu mount bolted with spacers in the rear. but the usey the nvg with the quad four bell housing for there ld9s but i wanted to use a nvg for my 3*00 swap. i knew the two trannys were pretty much the same just didnt know if the 282 would have the same mounts as a nvg. if i couuld use a 282 or a nvg it would make fiding a tranny alot easyer because i was told i needed a nvg 93-94 because of mounts.

I don't know anything about the 3rd gens and trans mounting but i know for sure the '88-94 Jbodies all used the same upper and lower trans mounts. I have a broken NVG T550 in the garage, I took the V6 bellhousing off of it and put it onto a '93 HM282 from a W41 Beretta.. then the trans went into a 92 Sunbird.


It might be easier for you to use a 93-94 trans due to the internal slave, it might hook up to what you allready have and be one less thing to worry about. I'll ask the Domesticcrew gods though, iirc they've done some 3x00's in 3rd gens.

looks like i have to use a nvg because the 282 doesnt have the front mount i would need. thanx for the help tho. now i need to track down a nvg with a v6 bell housing car-part.com shows a few in my area but like 300-500$.

any 93-94 5 speed V6 Cavalier/Sunbird will have the NVG internal slave, 92 is NVG but external slave and 91-older are HM282's.
