I have a 83 chevette with th200 trans in it, I also have a 2.8 S10 motor. Question, will the 2.8 bolt up to the th200? I realize the starter is on the wrong side and on top but if the trans will bolt up I'm going for it.
    Thanks for the help!

Quoting myself from the other Chevette thread:

      No, it will not

you might be able to buy the adapter plate that the Fiero guys use though...

The th200 in my chevette has a 1.6 motor in it, I have read that the 2.2 and 2.5 share the same bolt pattern as the V6, not sure if the 1.6 is the same. I will know for sure once I get the engine out, would like to know before I get started what I'm up against.
        Thanks.

found this web site about bellhousing bolt paterns thought I would post it here.

the 1.6 in a chevette is an Isuzu motor with its own unique bolt patern.
not sure why the link isn't working you can find it in the chevette thread in engine swaps, it works from there.

IF memory serves me right, and this goes back many years, the trans in the Cevette is a 180 Stousburg unit, not a 200THM. The 1.8 overhead cam engine is a GM/Chevy unit. The 1.8 Diesel is the Izuzu engine. Most guys that install a 2.8 RWD to the Chevette use a 350/700r4 THM, or any unit from a Monza (H body) with a 2.5 4cyl., or a 2.8 unit from a F body.
I don't believe that the Chevette bellhousing will fit the 2.8 pattern, but never having done one myself, I couldn't be 100% sure. D

Welp, shows what I know. Apologies for the misinformation.
