Hello, i did a 5 speed swap on my turbo 3.1 and think i broke it the first day. Not going to really know what happened until i pull it back out. The slave and master cylinder are new and bled properly. Car WONT go into gear while running. Im 100% positive its not the hydrolic assembly. What could cause this? Didnt break in properly? Fried the clutch? messed up the fork/throw out bearing? Transmission no good? PLEASE i need your guys help! Thank you for reading.

which 5 speed? a getrag?
have you checked your shift cables and the shift arms on the tranny to make sure they are actually moving with the shifter?

Its external slave, hm282, shift cables and shift arms good and move freely. Car will go into all the gear when off. Maybe test driving it at 14 psi messed something up... is my guess, when i got home it was smoking but i thought it was the heatwrap i had put on... could have very well been the clutch. Will a bad/blown clutch create a gear lockout effect?

the 282 will take alot more than 14 PSI to break something.. lol
it sounds like the slave isn't pushing the fork all the way, or the TO bearing failed.. It is possible that you killed the clutch disk though, smoking a little is normal (just like new brakes) but alot could be a problem. what kind of clutch was it?

sounds like you can't fully disengage the clutch. i had that happen on a stock 85 cav. the clutch fork cracked just before the TO bearing, and was flexing when i stepped on the clutch.Andy

Considering those clutches can't hold up to a stock 3.1 i bet that's your problem.
search Ebay for XTR and EZ clutches, the stage 3 6 puck for the HM282 works very well.
