it is possible but you will need a new or used tranny wiring harness the 4T60 and 4T65 have a different connector. also the 4T65 is a weaker unit the 4T60 has a single chain thicker input 3rd gear reaction drum stronger 4th gear clutch shaft.

the 4T65 was designed to be quieter i have been contemplating swapping my 4T65 for a 4T60 (mainly because of the vacuum modulated line pressure works better with boost)

Wherever you heard that the 65 is weaker than the 60 is completely wrong. Many people use 65 parts in their 60 because the parts a STRONGER.

jbrogan, don't you have a Beretta? If so, then you would need a standalone controller (~$800) in order to control the tranny, as it is a fully electronic transmission, whereas the 4T60E is still partially vacuum controlled. There are also mount issues.

Here is a good forum topic from when Torq455 did a 4T65E swap into his j-body - http://60degreev6.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37952

really? I have the single chain from the 60’s to replace the weaker and more prone to stretch duel chain in the 65s. I also have the 60’s reaction drum to replace the 65’s noticeable thinner and weaker one. I have rebuilt both at my work and I would stick with the 60.
