anyone want to sell me GETRAG 284?

Non W-body Getrags won't bolt into W-bodies without fab work to mount it, and that's just the trans itself. Axles, shifter etc are different between the car lines.

nevermind i misread. i just realized that there r 2 different getrags, one s not for wbody, other ones r for wbodys. my bad!

Well no, there are Getrag 284s, which ONLY came in 3.4 DOHC W-bodies, and then there are Getrag 282s, which came in A, L, N, J, P and W-bodies, BUT the only 282 that will bolt INTO a W is one that came OUT of a W.

Both are great trannies and will take about anything you can throw at them. the 282's have more options for gear ratios though

i've lookd at the vin before and its came with the 2.8 and im pretty sure its the 284 at 70mph im sitting at about 4,000rpm and i know with the 282 with the 3.61FDR should be around 3,000rpm how could i tell which it is

almost 200,000 miles on the body and 100,000 miles on the engine donno if the trans was rebuilt at the same time or not but it feels pretty good
