But it's not worth it IMO. 6th gear is going to be like 5th with the getrag 282.... not much lower RPMs. Just go with the 5spd getrag it will bolt in perfect to your car since they were offered with them and is proven strong and parts are cheap compared to the G6 F40 trans.

Actually that depends on which transmission you use. The 06 first release has a .62 6th gear, the 07 tranny has the .707 6th gear. The main reason Fiero swappers are using it is for the higher torque rating. I have the 06 version and 6th gear pulls the rpm way down.

Oh. Interesting. Oh yeah you have a swap thread on fiero.nl too LOL forgot about that. I just had the other link open at the time hehe.

Has the F40 been put to the test like the 282 has for years? And can you get decent priced stronger clutches for it?

I believe he's talking about the t56 not the f40

The t56 is much stronger, and many people are doing the swap. It's well documented on many fbody sites.

And the title says G6 6spd... I almost thought that too at first glance.

The stock G6 clutch is very strong relative to the Getrag clutch and has 2000 lbs of pressure plate clamping pressure as measured by my clutch builder. I had a Kevlar clutch disc made so it's just a matter of what you decide you want. I could have had my pressure plate spring load increased but the builder said it wasn't necessary.

No one to my knowledge has busted an F40 and several are sitting behind small block chevys. In addition to being rated higher than the Getrag it's newer.
