Manual tranny swap/Dirt car Grand am GT 2000

Hi guys..

I m racing on Dirt for the last 4 years with a Z-24 v6. Won championship last year with some of your performance advices.. Thanks.!!

Planning in replacing that old CAV. with a Grand am Gt with a 3400. (have to use the original motors so the Gen 2 are some what short on HP and torque)

Can the manual tranny from the CAV will fit on the Grand Am?? What about the axles??
Would the ECM be able to handle that modification?? without a lot of wire jumping??

What year grand am? As far as i know it whould swap right in and all the drive shafts and such should line right up.
You will only run into issues if you have a 99+ grand am because a lot of changes happened then. You would have to use the outer ends of the grand am drive shafts because the splines on the hub are larger. and I'm not sure about the width... i'm pretty sure it would be ok but i am not certain.

Also check the tranny mounts, I doubt the cavy would have the front trans mount (only uses a rear) and I would think the grand am uses front and rear trans mounts... again I'm not 100% but its something you can easily look at and confirm as I know these are the common problems with swaps into other cars.

that was done on the 99+ Grand Am with the G6 six speed and he has a 2000 grand am.

with the six speed the 6th gear is basically for highway cruising kinda like an overdrive in an auto.
