I think it is time to compile a transmission history/specs/interchage guide

I have a 95 grand am, (a bad year for GM I guess)
    #5 piston toasted a rod at 90K
    replaced 1995-3100 with a 2000-3400
4t60e has pathetic little bushings and poor final drive lubrication and spun a bushing, I pressed one in there to get me by but it has to come out, tomarrow, it growls.

    choices. Put in a 4t60e that has upgrades, perhaps a 97+ ?
Put in a 4t65e that insures the upgrades ? what is difference between 4t60e and 4t65e? other than all the sensors that my 95 ecm will gladly ignore ( I have 4t60e and 4t65e service manuals)

what vehicle, lets say I am junk yard shopping, has LSD in it?

Getrag 282/284 and all the associated schtuff to convert to manual (big job, but fun :-) )

4T60 is stronger stock. Stick with it. If you want upgrades you can use most of the ones from the 4T65.
    It\'s ugly, and turbocharged!
264 HP and 284 ft/lbs at the wheels(@9psi), power curve like none other!
And the transaxle to get it to the ground!

4t60e is stronger than 4t65e ? Why is that? I have heard the opposite also

what about HD versions of each? A definative list would be great.
      4t60e ___Lb.ft input /___Lb.ft output
      4t65e 280Lb.ft input /410 Lb.ft output
      4t80 305Lb.ft input /461 Lb.ft output
      getrag282
      getrag284

I dont know about ratings for either of these tranny's but can tell you one thing, neutral drops or clutch drops will easily blow a tranny apart in no time. If your easy on it off the line, it should handle all you can put to it. Thats what TCI said about our 700R4 that we blew up. A 3000lbs car from a dead stop can kill a tranny, but once its moving, the shock is gone. Just some info I find handy I guess
