The other day the pedal was had resistance only at the last 1/3rd of travel. now its fine. Fluid level is normal. Any ideas??? Do I need to replace the whole hydraulic system?

284 Hydraulic clutch problem

The hydraulic system on the 284's are held together with roll pins. I don't know if the parts are sold individualy or not. It could be your accumulator... I know I started thinking about that piece of junk on the 92 lately. I took the thing out of the hydraulics on the 91 a long time ago, so I am going to swap that set over to the 92 soon to see if it shifts any better. When the car is cold, there is a little resistance to get in gear until things warm up. I'm hoping it's not the trans itself.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

I haven't done it in the 92 yet, but the 91 gained a stiffer, more accurate feel. It wasn't as "padded" to make it comfy. I have never seperated it to bleed them. I took the system out of the car, topped off the reservoir and pushed the slave cylinder plunger down on a solid object, like our old deck, or cement. Keep the clutch master cylinder and reservoir above the level of the slave cylinder that way the fluid can get pushed back up into the master cylinder, and bubbles will naturally rise in the fluid to escape.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

my clutch acts really wierd... its totally worn out and the input bearing is gone but sometimes the clutch wouldn't disingage till the pedal was right at the floor and then it would still rub a bit i could feel it. and sometimes it would disingage right at the top of the pedal... like if i rested my foot on it lightly it would slip it. really weird... i thing ill just replace the hole shebang... clutch, hydro'sys, bearings, tranny needs rebuild got no 3rd or 4th gears... everything is just tost in that area...
but that brings me to another ?... does anyone have the 6 button brass clutch in their car that clutchnet sells? how is it for everyday driving? is it a bitch and really hard to feather out? would you recomend it for a turbo motor? or is a mid-grade semi race clutch gonna be enough to hold the power without slipping and last a long time??

No, I don't have pics. I haven't done it forever now, but when I take the hydraulics out of the 91 and put them in the 92, I will snap some just for you But basically, remove the whole system from the car, put the master cyl. and reservoir on a chair, and push the plunger on the slave in with your body weight. It's the same as pressing the piston back in on a caliper, except you have to make sure the reservoir and master cyl. is above the slave on the clutch hydros.Last edited by pocket-rocket; 05-06-2008, 10:10 AM.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

Heres somthing interesting, the clutch works just fine now, in fact it feels a bit better. its smooth and it has more resistance( which I like). It must've drawn in some air from somewhere....Lorenzo
