I was also a twig just out of high school at the time, but I don't need to justify it to you :P Besides, lets see you pick up a 60-e and carry it 150 feet by yourself since us that "didn't eat our wheaties" had to do.

I'll be doing that later this weekend well not 150 feet but carrying it out to my car yeah I'm only kidding with you... no need to get all defensive.

Not sure if you know what your talking about... but I'm pretty confident that adding an overdrive gear will 100% help with fuel economy

Just because it will make 500hp doesn't mean i'll be cruising in 4th at redline during highway driving. Its turbo....it won't suck gas unless i get on the boost.

Even with my stock 3400 right now, if i had a 4spd i wouldn't be revving at 3000rpm going 70mph.

Well just saying if you want to get it in there without the trans controller. Not saying you'd enjoy manually making it shift.

Brian89gp was working on a "manual automatic" controller of some sorts a long time ago. I think he eventually dumped it and went in favor of a 5 speed while turboing his GP. I don't recall what microprocessor he used, but it was programmable because he was working on the logic for controlling line pressure and the like vs TPS and load input and such, just like the ECM would. A long time ago, Brad was swapping backward to OBD I but needed his OBD 1.5 ECM there for controlling his tranny. Maybe give him a PM and see what he dug up. He basically wired the OBD I in to control the engine and piggy backed the original OBD 1.5 to run the trans. He did it that way so the OBD 1.5 ECM would still see the sensor inputs it needed to control the trans, and also so it wouldn't get cranky not seeing anything else. But the only output on it hooked up IIRC was the trans controls.
