  • 4T64 E Questions

I want to buy a tranny and am confused as to the types of 4T65E trannys out there. I know that there are 3 different final gear ratios , but which cars came with the HD diferential. I have found a tranny from a supercharged car that one would asume had an HD diff but the final drive ratio was only 2:93 and I thought that was low. I have seen
2.93, 3.29, and 3.69 What would be ideal for me is a 3.29 with an HD diff.....any one car come with that combo that anyone can verify?

    Thanks

HD are the supercharged cars. I don't know if any other got them. You can change the chain gears and such to change the FDR too you know.

no car came with a 3.69 ratio but GM offers that via GM Performance parts. The ratio change is done thorugh the chain drive so youd get new sprockets and a chain. the single chain they give with the kit is stonger than the dual phase chain they now normally run. But I think you need a 2.93 FDR to get the 3.69...

most newer grand prixs and impalas with the 3400 have the 3.29 diff. the 2.93 diff iirc comes in the 65E-HD (supercharged 3800). you can have a 2.86 diff from a lesabre 3800 (65E non HD)and change the sprockets for a 3.20 FDR, or have a 2.93 diff with the sprocket change for a 3.28 FDR. the 3.69 is what i have: a 3.29 diff with sprockets.
