So The 2-3 Springs Are Actually Two Separate Pieces? I Thought They Were Just One Double Spring.

I Stopped At Oreilly's to get the door pin bushings and the biggest they had was .25 inches in diam. is that right?

Um I'll measure the bores tomorrow and let you know, I need to grab the springs before I go to work to compare them to the ones I bought.

Luckily the 3-4 does have two springs and I think I bought the two I need.

The only thing I'm not TOTALLY sure on is if the 1-2 outer spring is stronger than the 2-3 outer, because if it is then really we should be doing a 1-2 outer and the 2-3 inner in both accumulators... just a thought but I don't have any way of checking the springs, they are just marked with paint and I know the two larger springs are different colors.

Oh well, my current trans is dual 2-3 springs in both so I'll just go with that since thats what I bought... LOL

Ok now there is a HUGE list of springs that you can get... varrying from model to model of the 4t60e and what car it came in. Going by your pics I see you have a 94 3100 W-body, That gives you the 4AFW or 4CMW Now if you could verify that code that would be great, there is a tag on the back of your transmission by the diff cover, one of those 4 digit codes should be on it.

This means you do not have the same accumulator setup that I pictured. You have the second or third design, if your AFW its the second design, if its CMW you have the third design. Your 2-3 springs are the same as mine and setup the same way, your 1-2 however are TOTALLY different... I'm getting scans now of my ATSG book.

Attached are the three different types of accumulator pumps.... Now how to shim those last two I'm not sure on... Maybe someone with the same code trans has done it before and could chime in? Oh and .25 dia is too small... or is that inner dia?

Well This Blows. I Guess I'll Just Hope My Stock Springs Don't Break. But The Trans Shop I Talked To Said They Have Extra Used Ones I Could Have If Mine Break. The Guy I Talked To Said He Rebuilds Alot Of These And Has Never Seen A Broken Spring.

Thats funny because you saw the 2-3 one busted on that 77k mile trans I took apart, and I also pulled apart another like that a few months ago, his car wouldnt shift into third till it hit the limiter.

so, the diff cover is on the drivers side?....what is the best area to look to get the best angle and see?

passenger side is the dif cover, um best angle to see would be from underside unfortunately, BUT the code may be in your RPO listing where ever that may be.
