How many need 284 Rebuild parts????

I think what I'll first focus on is getting all the bearings, thrust washers, etc, etc manufactured as aftermarket parts.

Its going to be a lot of work.

I did find out that one of the Fwd Maserati in Europe had the Getrag 284

i would definatly take a few sets of syncros and bearings, the syncros need to have blocker rings though, as that is one of the most important parts.

I have obtained the WHOLE, DETAILED GETRAG 284 INFORMATION/SERVICE/REPAIR/MAINTANANCE Manual and it is VERY detailed.

I have so far a couple of the bearings being professionally manufatured for our company, But I have to commit to a very large quantity.

Apparently the specs on these bearing have to be made specific (these bearing are made to withstand High RPM, etc, etc)

I will inform everyone soon on when they are finished being made, the prices, etc.

More good news

I've been meeting with a manufacturer that will make the rest of the bearings for the 284

It looks like for starters I will soon be offering a complete bearing rebuild kit.



This should be marked a huge positive move in keeping real getrag 284 performance alive!
Our company is putting out lots of time and money to make this happen for all getrag 284 owners!

Uhhhhhh? How big of a production run are we talking about here? Surely new tooling needs to be set up to make any parts for the 284.. unless you mean the parts already exist for other applications and you're just figuring out part numbers...

A large amount we have to buy, but they will allow me to do it over a certain time frame.

As for the tooling, when it come to bearings, and many other tranny parts alot of the major manufacturers have all the multi-million dollar computer controlled equipment needed to make any type of custom made part you need as long as you have ALL the detailed specs needed or a perfect prototype (Or brand new sample in my case)

As for the Cast parts I have a different company that can cast anything, as long as you have again all the same detailed specs needed, in this case also density testing is needed.

It is alot of hassel time and money thought as is anything.

how far along are you with these parts David? because im desperate. i have no 3rd gear and i just lost 4th today. aka car no move no more or it will continue to get worse. what kind of a time frame are we looking at to have these parts ready for sale?

also in those parts you bought did there happen to be a input shaft bearing for the front not the rear?

Guess what!

I was just talking to the manufacturer this morning and they said they're going to contact me later today to let me know which of the bearings have been finished, inspected, and tested.

I can't wait till they arrive cause I can't get over how many people and companys have contacted me in regards to just the bearings themselves.

I'll have to check into the mounts too!
