  • Getrag 284 Clutch Accumulator Removal

Well, my clutch has been given me problems for the past few months, whenever it sits there for a while it seems to loose all pressure. After pulling everything apart and what not, it seems like the accumulator was leaking, so after doing some research, decided to pull it out!

It wasn't that hard, but the problem i have now is there seems to be no resistance what soever in the clutch. Kinda like there's lots of air in the system. I've bleed'd it many of times, pumped the clutch like crazy, bleed it again, and over and over again. Can't find it leaking anywhere, but, still the clutch dosen't seem to be engaging at all...

For those that have removed it, what type of hose did you use? The only thing I could find was fuel line hose... think that'll be a problem?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

I got a brand new one....If you want a new one I heard this is the last year GM is going to have it on hand, it going to be discontinued..

Brake line is the best bet to answer your Question.

But I recommend getting a new one before they stop making them.

Are you positive that there is master pressure, if not it could be that the master cylinder has worn seals.

As was mentioned, your hose really won't work for a huge amount of hydraulic pressure. But, I wanted to ask, how are you bleeding the system.

It is very hard to just go out to your car and get a perfect bleed on it.

Also, if nothing is leaking at all and you eventually put the right hose in place, if it still pumps down when you hold it, you may have another problem.

When the clutch pedal is released, there is a valve to make sure there is NO pressure built up in the system, kinda like a relief valve. If this were to stick or open at the wrong time, it would also allow pressure to bleed down.

If there is no pedal resistance though, it is more than likely the bleed of the system. But, I cannot sy that right now because you are using fuel line hose, even Trans cooler hose would have been a better choice but, still much inadequate.

Think of the clutch as a brake system because, it is the same style of setup.
