    All converters have a stall...

You mean you want a higher stall converter. A higher stall converter doesn't compliment a stock motor too well either... you should keep the stall speed and your cam matched. Stock cam, stock stall... MAYBE move up to the one I'm currently running.

In that case just start searching for other cars with 4t60e's in them, they have a tag on them that has a code to tell you what the stall speed is, My current one is a 2060, stock is 1650, I'll be moving up to a 2300 or 2500 when I get my new cam in my new 96.

If you look around on here or on bstuff there is a list of the codes that equals what stall speed...

    actually...

    1st Digit (application trans)

    F -- 125C, 440-T4, 4T60, 4T60-E
2nd Digit (approx stall (depends on engine)

    A -- 2795 rpm
    B -- 2560 rpm
    C -- 2385 rpm
    D -- 2095 rpm
    E -- 1865 rpm
    G -- 1630 rpm
    H -- 1515 rpm
    J -- 2060 rpm
    K -- 2760 rpm
    L -- 1895 rpm
    M -- 1525 rpm
    Y -- 1420 rpm
    Z -- 2375 rpm
    3rd Digit (TCC clutch material)

0 -- Clutch omitted by factory
5 -- Clutch contains poppet valves
    All other digits (pre 1996):

    Red Fiber material
    1996-97

    C, E, H, K, P -- Carbon filled clutch
    1998-up

    F, H, K, Q -- Woven graphite clutch
    4th Digit (Clutch Type)

    B -- standard
C -- viscous (stay away from these type)

Don't you eat up a lot of horsepower with a higher stall though?

Not really, you loose low end torque though... since its not really engaging down there

Can you tell it to lock up regardless? I disconnected a wire on my 4T60-E (96) and it went from never locking up, to doing so when it wants to, no questions asked. Its brutal with the stock tune, and I don't know what it takes to change that other than OBD2 tuning capabilities:P

I have been PMed for 2 different stall ratings now based on the cam. I am not a transmission expert. Some of you can teach me more about the torque converter, as I have read some stuff on them years ago, but never applied it because I had a 284 5 speed DOHC. I do know lorenzo had a higher stall (29xx) with his cam/compression/etc and 3.73 FDR. Is it all cam that you make your choice on? What about power output and boost/na? No idea...

I would just hate to guess and be wrong.

you can change your TCC engage speed so yeah I guess thats true.

I'm trying to figure out what stall speed would be good for the cam that you and I came to an agreement on.
