  • Where to get a Limited Slip.

This spring I'm looking to install yet another trans into my Beretta, this time i found a good low-mileage one for a good price. This time is the last time I want to be doing this, and I'd like to get a limited slip in there before i put it in.

Anyone know where i can get a limited slip for the 282 (from a 94 Cavalier). I'd preferrably like the torque sensing gear type, like a Quaife or a Torsen. About the only place i know that has one is Mantapart, anyone know of any others?

There was a 282 that came stock with a Torsen diff, very very rare. It also had 4.10 gears.

Mantapart is the only other place I have heard of for the gear type, for a clutch type the link dykz34 gave is good.

thought it was the 7 Acheiva SCX's that were for track use only. they had a Torsen and had 3.94:1's.

That could be too. I could have swore there were some Torsen's that made it to the street.

Oh yeah, that whole rumor about the Achieva SCXs with no A/C and the 3.94 trans (as all HO Quad4s have), the stock limited slip, and some kind of fuel tank baffles or something?

Well, i know there was at least some SCXs made with the W41 and no A/C because GM lists a chip for it..

How much do those EP Limited slips go for anyways?

only 92-94 Quads have the 3.94:1 FDR, the 90-91's had 3.61:1.

im still searching for one of those 92-94 transmissions.

for my LSD i paid $575, before core, $75 core return.

There i go generalizing again... All the W41s (starting in 91?) and all HO Quad4s 92-94 had the 3.94. Some N-Bodies even had the larger front brakes starting in 90!

the new Ecotecs have a 3.94 aswell...

Cliff, Bill Izusu used to carry something but it looks like they are changing with the times. You might still want to contact them as I am sure they could point you in the right direction. If you work on the suspension the only problem I have is in the wet or snow. Stiffening the suspension on a FWD with springs, shocks, and a sway bar will help keep the front end planted when accelerating out of turns and straights.

Yeah, i don't have any problem with keeping my suspension stiff LOL! However, some turns i would like to maybe accelerate a little more through...
