There are 2 ways to disable it.

What you can do is drop your steering column. There should be a black cable that is attached to the top with 2 tiny small screws. If you disconnect that, it disables the key locking the shifter.

If you want to do it at the shifter, get to the mounts where the cables attach to the shifter. Disconnect the cable that moves when you press the button. One of them is like pressed onto a peg, and the other is like hooked on. In my car, it is the hooked on one.

Just remove the shifter trim, press the button, and see which cable moves. Disconnect it, and it will disable that.

Just so you know, check your area. In my area, if you have it like that, it will fail your cars inspection. And in my area, they DO check things like that.

      Don't do it..

my Trans Am is like that, the old owner ripped off the knob and parts for the button. His GF at the time bumped it from drive into park and shattered the parking paw in the TH400.

      It's a saftey device.
