thanks! will do. if you don't care about mileage, go with the 4t60/65E with the 3.73/3.69 FDR. you'll gain about 16% more acceleration and still loose about 200 rpm on the highway! \

you'll run into the same problems i did. only difference is the total width from bell housing to the side cover will be less than the 65E, and and no controller needed. you most likely can use your stock tranny mount if you modify the tranny mount bracket holes. i have two options for that. using the stock mount, cut the mount bracket that bolts to the tranny, weld it to a custom thick metal sheet, and use the structural side cover. the other, use the stock side pan cradle mount, weld 1/4 steel extender plate to the sub-frame and mount it there. i'm trying to see what can be done about the dog bone toward the front at the bottom of the bell housing. maybe the bottom rear (firewall) mount on the 65E i can bolt to the sub-frame brace and not worry about the dog bone. not sure what year or car that 4T60 is from, but things to think about. i should have mine up and running in 3-4 weeks depending on parts.

Ok if I use the 65E/4T60 Trans the only problem we seem to be seeing is the mounting issue? If tha tis the case then it is no problem for me then as I have a welder and metal to use.

What about the Axles? Can teh Jbody Axles be used?

well and shorter axles too of course. but really yeah, the mounts are the main issue. axles...thinking you can take the inner joint from the passenger axle and swap it on the driver axle and that looks to be the right length. haven't verified that yet. has to be real short on the drivers side, almost boot to boot short. won't see much axle there. if your using an "E" version, then there's the tranny controller and added wiring to route.

tranny controller and the gears will be here by the end of the week! LSD still looks like another 1.5-2 weeks.

i have everything but the LSD now. at best i was thinking it would be here by the end of this week, but with thanksgiving and all....maybe early next week. man! the FAST controller is sweet asss! hella lota wiring to deal with. i can program almost anything to my liking! Ben has the picture of my actual kit on his store. the LSD is coming from engineered performance. the real excitement will come when i can get this rollin.

then when you get the controller, you'll rethink the swap haha! thinking i can take the inner pass joint and use it for the driver inner and use that for the pass side. driver side...??? figure by the time measurements will be taken and researching is done, way too much time will have been wasted. besides, i really should have new axles, so i plan on going with standard custom, not any special. did you look at the controller in Ben's store? when you are there, click the 3400 tab.

whoa ! man that is nice but i am not to big on electrical stuff so if i put in a 4spd it will be a 440t4 (4t60) because its almost like the th125
so when you put in your trans you did not have tomove your motor ahead like frankster said then ? did you use the th125 trans mount ?

didn't have to move the engine at all at this point, but still need to get axles in to know for sure. there is several inches (about 4-5) between the bulk head and the CV boot. i can't believe the 65E will take up all that. might be able to either use the stock tranny mount bracket after cutting, repositioning and re-welding it. if not, i can have the stock side cover work with a kind of diagonal metal bracket to mount to the side cover and bottom mount. then weld a 1/4 inch flat plate to the sub-frame for the mount. it will stick out a couple of inches but won't interfere with anything.

nope, not yet. STILL waiting on the LSD from engineered performance. i will post as soon as i get it in. then things will get going.

upgrades...just the LSD and the custom chain and gears to make the FDR 3.69:1. leaving everything else stock.
