  • Getrag 282 Intermediate Shaft/Axle ??

My 282 (in beretta/3.1) does not have a housing over the intermediate shaft -normal from what I've heard (90+ I believe are not equipped with the housing). There is a bright blue seal where the intermediate shaft snaps into the the differential, does this seal all trans oil from that point? OR does oil go through the intermediate shaft and gets sealed off by where the passenger side axle snaps into the intermediate shaft? If so, does the trans oil lubricate the bearing mount or is it a sealed unit? Just wondering.

Umm well I know with my 284 oil goes all the way through to the axle cuz I had to replace that seal.

the oil is sealed off at the transmission, and the intermediate shaft has NO oil whatsoever though it..

I know that too, because I've removed axles from my 284 - but we were talking about the 282 here...

Anyways.... thanks for the heads up Cliff, this isnt the first time you've informed me on 282/3.1/L-body stuff - I appreciate it.
