What was previously asked......do you just pull the old one out and plug the new in? Or is it held in with something? Now, on a higher mileage trans that appears to be healthy (no slipping, fresh fluid, etc) would there be any expediation of failure from cranking up the line pressure?

There is a 10mm bolt holding a very simple bracket that holds it in, just remove that and the modulator pulls out. Then insert new one. My new one had a few different things you could take out of the end, and the instructions showed changing them out for different trannys, but on ours you just put it in like it came (take off the rubber protector!).

Put it on, then put the bracket back on and bolt it down. Then take the 90* bend that comes with it, stick it on, then look at what rubber fittings you have on the stock hard line. There are 3 if you pull the whole thing apart, you only need 2, you should be able to figure it out.

Connect it to the 90* bend, and you have a new modulator installed. As far as pressure, mine was 10 "turns" of my wrist open (Meaning it took 10 turns to close fully), so I closed it then opened it by 5 turns. I don't know if this is too much/enough yet, but it does go into drive/reverse much firmer.

Doing this is only extending the life of your transmission. As long as your not maxing the tranny pump all of the time (wearing it out), you'll be fine. More pressure = less clutch wear = more performance = longer life. Only reason it isn't like that stock is because most people don't want to feel their car shift.

right down the middle of the vac hole, its a small flathead screw in there that goes in and out.

Well crap this is so cheap I might as well do it. There isn't any risk of leaks or anything by pulling this out right and slapping the new in?
