ok, so i got it in the car tonight, filled it up with syncromesh, and i now see that my driver side axle seal is leaking.... great. i have a new seal already, but how do i go about replacing it correctly?

also, my clutch hydraulic system needs bled, i do not have the kent moore specialty tools that the manual specifies, what is the best way to bleed this? as of right now the pedal feel is spongy and dosen't seem to want to disengage the clutch all the way.

The seals are easy enough to replace. You can get them 80% of the way in by hand and the rest of the way with some small, blunted object like the back of a screwdriver, or if you have a seal press even better. Just make sure the transmission casing is dry and clean when you install the seal, and I've been told that lubing your driveshaft up with assembly lube will help prevent tearing the seal when you reinstall it, and it will melt after a couple miles anyway. If it still leaks afterwards, you could have what I have which is a worn out CV shaft, and then you have to get it replaced, or at least the inner of the shaft you've got.
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

also put some anaerobic sealer on the seal. btw, where did you get the seal?

for bleeding, you can just take a pry bar and push the slave in, pump it up, and repeat as necessary. might wanna take your slave out and fill it with brake fluid before doing that, though. i would just try it first without doing that.

getting the seal in sounds easy enough, getting the old one out i could pry it out with a screwdriver?

as for bleeding it sounds as if i just prevent the TO bearing fork from engaging and pump it? with the cap on or off? i got the entire mas/slave hydraulic assembly fully intact, however it seems as somehow some air got in the system and i have a "mushy" clutch feel because of it.

the seals i got are "federal mogul" brand, i got them with one of the 284s i bought, i'll get part numbers and take a picture of the package, they look exactly like the OE ones

also how much fluid am i looking at losing here? should i just drain the transaxle before attempting this?

yeah, should be able to pry it out w/ something like that.

that should work, i think. cap on or off shouldnt matter, but probably off.

cool, i got the gm ones but theyre discont.

          i would drain it, yes.

a few more things to add, the federal mogul seals are junk, ordering some ACD ones first thing tomorrow.

also i was going over my engine bay harness, and i have this lone connector that runs in the same loom as the IAT plug that my automatic harness didn't have, what is it for?

PS i know it isn't for the reverse light switch, i already have that hooked up.

not sure what it does, but it looks like the one that runs over the tranny and hooks into the plug coming out of the wiring harness running at the front of the engine.

some research later and that mystery harness is supposed to connect to the cruise harness on manual transmission cars, i however don't have that yet.

can i just switch the red wire on that off my clutch switch to i can hopefully regain cruise control, as well as clear up this pesky code 39 I've been getting?
