  • Off the shelf tranny's

    Which one is a better investment? 4T65E or 4T60E? why would the 60E be so much more? Could you build one like this cheaper/better?

    4T65E/HD----> http://www.domesticperformance.com/p...8b5bb79697ad96

    4T60E/HD----> http://www.domesticperformance.com/p...products_id=28

    Is there a better place to get a solid automatic tranny that will handle 350-400HP and 8000RPM? Could you put in a performance shift option like the 97+ GTP's?

    You'd need a PCM to control the 4T65-E. Well, I guess you'd need one to control the 4T60-E as well, but not to the extent as the 65E. They are fully electronically controlled...

          Electronically, the 4t65e is the same as a 94+ 4t60e with the addition of an PWM solonoid to control fluid pressure instead of a vacuum modulator. 91-93 DOHC 4t60e's are wired uniquely but can still work. The 4t65e has a bunch more electrical crap but it isn't needed for the tranny to function.

          A routine to control that PWM solonoid could be added to any of the chips...

          Stock to stock they are probably pretty similar. Modified the 4t65e will win hands down at everything.
