I have a Problem That I hope that someone can help me with.
I have a 1988 Buick Park Avenue That I bought from a Man it only has 75000 on the car The engine is 3.8.
Now here is the problem The Transmission was slipping But! He gave me a Transmission that was suppose to have been rebuilt.(Out of a 1988 Buick) It look's like it has been rebuilt (New Gasket's).
But the Transmission that is in the Car Has a Round Plug that Has 5 Wire's that plug in Right Above the Mod. Valve.
But! The Tranny that he gave me with the car only has 4 Pin Plug (Square) is there anyway that I can mulipulate this plug to work?
What is the plug for? Does it have to be plugged up to the tranny?
Anyone that can help I would be Grateful.

you can swap the internal wiring harness between the transmissions. this will require pulling the side cover off of both transmissions and removing both wiring harnesses and install the round pin harness into the new tranny. iirc, the extra wire is a temp sensor.

Thank you for the advise, Sharkey
I am getting old and live on SS and can not afford to take it to a shop
      so I appreciate your advise

Could'nt I just splice the wire's into it?
Color of the wire's are the same except the 5 Pin has the extra wire whch is Orange. Is that one the Temp wire?
      Tnx: emory
