  • 3.4 Tranny.

I've got a '95 Monte Carlo Z34 w/ a tranny on the way out. Does anyone know for sure what tranny it is? I've been told by someone that its a 4t65-e and I thought for sure it was a 4t60-e or 4t60-eHD. I'm not sure. Either way the tranny will hold gear and slip out of all gears occasionally. I turned it off after I drove it briefly and started it back up after like 15 minutes and moved it to park it and it looks like it was more or less pissing tranny fluid. Any ideas, comments, advice? Maybe a tranny for sale? Heh. Thanks in advance for any help.

its deffinitly a 4t60e, the 4t65e didnt come out till 98.

could be a cooler line leaking, thats about the only place that would pule fluid out at a rapid rate (aside from a blown out front seal, but not to common). id get under it and see whats leaking, repair the leak and top the fluid up and see how it works.

I put a half quart into it and drove it to a car wash, then back home yesterday, and it didnt leak anymore. Once it warms up the tranny is next to useless. I was going 40 down a backroad, crusing at 3k because the damn thing wouldnt shift. I'm so glad I found a good one at a JY. BTW, thanks for the car-part.com site, it saved me about 1000 dollars.

well if you do use one from a JY make sure to check the seals and all the bolts for the pan first, they like to strip out...and then change the fluid and filter, then run it a little and change it again...at least that is what i would do
