4T60E 1-2 shift is hard

so the other day i was driving and the shift from 1-2 made my CD player skip because it was so hard. i have never noticed it doing that before. I was at WOT at the time and it was cold outside. I don't know what would cause a sudden change in the shift. it only happened between 1-2 and it seems to only happen at WOT and at about 1/2-3/4 throttle. The only thing i can think of is that the transmission fluid was still cold so it mybe was causing a higher line pressure because it had higher viscosity. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

okay now the shift is hard enough to chirp the tires pretty consistently when it hits second gear. And i have done absolutly nothing not even changed the fluid. The transmission dosen't slip or make any other unordinary noises it just shifts really hard at WOT. any ideas at all would really help!

Check to see if the vacuum line going to the vacuum modulator is attached. Probably is if you aren't noticing and idles issues. But I would look in the area of the modulator. It might have failed and is causing the issue. I know I had mine unplugged for awhile and it shifted very hard.

where abouts is the modulator on the tranny. and what does it look like?

The modulator will be on the front of the tranny, right under where the crossover connects to the front manifold. One easy way to find it is just to follow a vacuum line from the TB area down. It looks like a fuel filter almost...

are they pretty easy to replace or do you have to take the cross over loose? Cause if it is easy then i'll get one out of another car and see if there is a diffrence before i go buying something i may not need.

well if anyone's transmission starts shifting really hard for no aparent reason you should buy a new one soon or sell the car soon because the other day mine took a dump on my way home from work. one of the spider gears was chunked through the transmission. Yes thats right THROUGH the transmission. and ther kicker was that my tranny had stopped shifting hard and i was only on the gas hard enough to accelerate!
