  • Are all 4T60E's the same?

There is a 4T60E on a corsica at the junk yard. is it the exact same as my 4t60e on my beretta? i know that in my corsica that had a 3spd the gears were longer than my 3spd beretta. so are the gears longer in the corsica with a 4t60e? im not puttin in a trani with longer gears. also i found alot of 4t60e's that inside the car is a collumn shift and it reads all four gears, and the beretta is on the floor and reads Low, drive, and overdrive, so how would this work? Is it the same trani or not?

They are all the same minus the FDR. That would make it longer/shorter through the gears.

Im not sure if a 94-95 is the same as a 96 though. I need to know that for my 96 GTP as I have 2 transmissions here now. If you use a 3.1 W body and a 3.4 W body transmission, you can make a 3.73 fdr. That would be shorter than your stocker

Could you tell me what I would need to do this? Would love to shorten the gears a bit in my GT,(2000 GA GT1) but didn't know it was possible! Thought I had to do a GTP conversion or something.

There are actually several different models of 4T60E in just the same year, so you really have to match tranny codes to get an "exact" match. Differences include what sensors are used and could alter the internal wiring some.

There is a tag on the tranny house with a 4 digit code.

The ones with a 6 for the first digit are 96 model year IIRC (15 different models).

a 2001 gagt will have a 4t45e, not a 4t60e. im not sure, but a 4 cyl 4t40e may use different gearing than the v6, so there may be parts avalible to do a gear swap.

that helps some. so the corsica trani would have a different final drive ratio? What about tranis with different codes. is it possible to find a better one? if so what is the best trani to put in my 96 beretta 3100.
