  • HM-282 mounting differences

Alright, I may have a line on 92+ L body transmission mounts(hopefully) so now its time to pick my transmission.

Obviously I need something that bolts to the 92+ mounts, but a V6 5 speed beretta thats 92+ is not available locally.

Did the earlier l body (88-91) transmissions have the mounting bosses for the newer mount style? If not, when did they start getting it?

Cavaliers from 92-94 kept the old style mount system despite the berettas new mounts. Would the 92-94 Cavalier 5 speeds have the Beretta mounting holes aswell? I would assume so considering how cheap GM is. I cant see them producing 2 of the same transmissions just for different mounting holes.

    Anyone know?

I know the 91 and 93 Jbody trannies mount exactly the same but all Jbody manual trannies just have a bracket that bolts to the top 2 bellhousing bolts and then 2 other vertical bolts into the top of the tranny.

I have a V6 HM282 on the floor of the garage if you'd like a pic of anything.

all j-bodies ive seen have only the top mount, no mount holes on the sides. they did that only on the l and n body cars.

Actually from what I hear the 92+ do have the mounts on the tranny but not the body side (atleast the holes for it). Also apparently N bodies also used the 92+ l body mounting system along with other vehicles.

So now the hunt is on. I'll let you gents know what I find at the JY tomorrow. Thanks for the help!.
