Ok so im rebuilding my trans (4T45E from an 02 GAGT) and im getting the lsd from EP, the blue plates, and the billet alum accumulator pistons. I was doing some research on my converter and found out i have an 1865 stall. Kills me on the track. so i looked and found that transtar has a torque converter guide that has 4 other converters that are a higher stall than mine. so the higher stalls are 2060 to 2095, 2375 to 2385, 2560, and 2760 to 2795. I got the 2385, just for starters. But it was only $91 plus shipping and $16 for the core, not too bad if i say so. Ill tell u how it goes when i get my diff back from EP in about a month or so.

i live in levelland tx, in the middle of the panhandle, by lubbock. ill get the converter in when i get my lsd and everything else, prob about the last of jan first of feb. im looking for very noticeable gains, but not as much as the more aggressive ones, but im keeping it conservative for now.
i think that the trans is the key to making a track star. that is what is going to stay consistent for brackets and give me a way to handle the torque steer i am looking at having...lol

itll be done about mid jan, then ill track test it with the LSD and my upgrades to the 4t45e along with the tranny cooler AND the powrtunr...dang i never realized how much stuff i have for me to install...lol, plus i still have the AFPR to install, but im gonna do that at a dyno session maybe if i can get to that, other than that i might set it a few pounds over stock...ill post on this thread and a diff one to let yall know the progress, and i may even go with diff gearing if i feel like it, there are really more options that first believed for this setup.
only prob...track dont open here til last of feb, so i may get a g tech, even though i dont like them, to get some postable results. plus the butt dyno from kaleco could help...lol
ill keep it updated though

well i would go for the 2800 of the bat, but i want to make sure everything is ok with my trans first. and with ur turbo, unless you have the powrtuner or the autotrans interceptor, your trans(with a stall converter) will feel like it shifts softer, so if you dont have something to up the line press, then it may not work as well as it would with one. also make sure you have a trans cooler...higher temps for the trans and more load means it needs max cooling and maybe better with the higher capacity that the cooler would add for the trans fluid. if i dont like the 23xx converter, then ill upgrade to a higher stall, or course results posted...

yes, I've got the PT, and I added in my own custom "performance shift" switch. wasn't factory equipped. Pumped up the line pressure to about 90 on perf. mode. I dont think I'd get much use out of the 2800 TC though. My powerband is a little short as it is, since I redline at 6k. You might be right on that though.sigpic

well you could lighten the vavletrain, get better springs(if you dont aready have them) and get ur crank knife edged and get a scraper and you should be able to pull a little higher revs than just 6k, but not too much. but yah maybe that stall would be too much...and im guessing the "perf shift" was the shortcut that dhp showed you, where you wire in power to that term on the pcm with a switch. i guess thats ok, i havent tried it yet, my tranny with just the blue plates right now and nothing else already give me good shifts, and on a cold day i have enough torque steer to run into oncomming traffic or take me off the side of the road

nice....my car doesn't have enough bottom end to have torque steer problems, but then again, alot of that is because of the 3.05 final drive. I bet it's alot more fun off the line with a 3.26 or better.
Then again, I also dont waste much time roasting them off the line, and that in a way is a plus.sigpic
