  • 4t45 in a 2003 malibu?

I have a chance to pick up a 4t45 out of a 2003 grand am gt with 28,000 miles for $300. I know a 3400 drops right in for a 3100, but i was wondering if the trans missions will? I was think anout the extra torque the 45 can handle and also the 3.29 axle over my 3.05, would I have to do anything other then ahve the PCM reprogrammed for the different gear? I already have a custom tuned PCM from milzy.

Yes, it should be a direct swap. I have heard of a couple of GA SE guys doing it.

yeah it'll swap without issue. Both the T40 and T45 cases are exactly the same, difference is all internal; mount locations should even be the same between the two, if not the brackets from your T40 will bolt right onto the T45. You'll need the PCM flashed, though; T45 runs a bit higher line pressures and shift points are a touch higher.
