  • Front end "bouncing" with new Eibach's

I had Eibach Prokit springs (and ADDCO sway bars) installed last Saturday, it helped out the handling drastically on my '01 Monte LS.

The product instructionsstates that stock struts can be used, and seeing as the car has low mileage, I left them in.

The car seems to "bounce" when at high speed hitting bumps, etc.

Is this due to the stock "soft' struts?

    Any recommendations?

it could be due to stiffer springs, the car will react more tot the bumps than before

      Will stiffer struts help?

If so, what brand do you guys recommend for a person on a budget?

the new springs will be more forcefull when doing their thing. tougher struts as recomended will absorb or dampen the springs activity.

What's wrong w/ the KYB's? I was looking at these due to the price ($58.00 ea.). If they're junk, let me know!

They aren't junk. Koni are better but cost a lot more and are adjustable. Not available for all makes but worth looking into. Not for a budget though. KYB are great on a budget.

I have KYB's, on the rear of my Olds. Haven't had time or money to install them on the front. I like them. The ride is a little stiffer than stock, but not so much as to be brutal at all. Haven't had any problems with them, either, except for a failed strut mount that when it failed, the strut failed with it. They've handled 1800 pound trailers just fine.

I checked on the koni website but they only have applications for f-bodys and sunfires If I'm to go w/ the kyb's which will be the stiffest?

KYB GR 2 are the stiffest. They are what I have.

i just got off the phone with the guy at andysautosport and he said he had them on his car for a while and they were not much stiffer than stock at all :/ why does this have to be so difficult

i havent found anything else as far as shocks n struts, but on this link the guy talks about getting a bunch of 99+ga drivers to call/e-mail and ask kyb to make the high performance agx shocks/struts available for our cars. I just dropped them an e-mail. hopefully ill hear something back.

a grand am is much diffenent than a monte. some shocks are designed internaly to ride smooth for cruising and the become progressivly firmer as the car corners. you wont know if the shock is really what that guy says it is unless you try it with your springs.

I have about 120 miles on my new suspension and I love it.
Eibach springs for lowering about an inch and KYB GR2's.
Handles really nice, especially on high speed wide turns such as on-ramps
The struts are very stiff as I can tell, but my stock struts were absoulutly shot so bungee cords would have worked better...

If someone has a couple of Bucks lying around they should try this and let us know how it goes, because I have pogo too. Nothing that's driving me nuts, but if I can get rid of even a little bit this easily then I'm all in.
