  • Specail tool needed for struts?

    Hey guys
I'm looking to swap the struts on my 95 GTP and the price with labour and tax made me gag. I want to do this job myself but seem to remember someone saying a specail tool is needed for the front (?) struts... if so what is this tool? maybe I can track down a rental, or with any luck my father will have one...he has every other tool I've ever heard of.

    thx

they might be just taking your for a ride. if i remeber some of the strut assemblies have a cartridge which is essentaily a shock absorber mounted inside the spring. this means you might not have to do a whole lot of work.

you might simply just have to loosen a collar and undo a few nuts and the cartride will be able to pop out from the top and you wouldnt even need an alignment.

the special tool might be a spring compressor, but as i mentioned before you might not need it. you'll have to ask some of the gp owners how the struts are setup.
If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.

It's for w-body fronts. I don't think it's used on any other cars.

If you pay to have the fronts done, you should be smacked.
