I got a 1994 Beretta with high miles and over the years the front brake pads have worn out some deep grooves on the steering knuckles. Those grooves have been causing the pads to rattle around and sometimes the pads get hung up and I hardly get any braking. I was wondering if anybody knows if there are any shims or clips available to provide a smooth surface for the pads to ride on. I know some vehicles use metal clips that snap on to the caliper bracket so the pads don't wear it out. I don't want to go through the trouble and risk of welding on those knuckles or even replacing them.

RE: Beretta Front Brakes Question
Grooves on the steering knuckles?! Do you have any pics? I just changed the pads and rotors on my 94 Beretta and I can't even think of a way for the pads to cut grooves into the steering knuckles...-Brad-

Sorry I don't have any pics. The areas where the grooves are are where the ends of the pads contact the caliper bracket (which is integral of the knuckle). This car has gone through many sets of brake pads in its life and they slowly wear away the metal on the bracket. Like I mentioned earlier, I have seen other vehicles that have metal anti-rattle clips that attach to the bracket where the ends of the pads contact and move. New pads for those vehicles usually come with new clips. That's why I'm wondering if there is anything similar for this Beretta available that somebody may know about.
