  • ebay drilled and slotted rotors

    As the title suggest, I'm about to order and install drilled/slotted rotors on my 92 Lumina Z34. EBay has 3 brands available; Hart, Powersport, and E Line. Has anyone had any experience with any of these. I was told due to tooling cost, there are very few manufacturing companies so very few differences. Any opinions?

    I wouldn't buy anything that important off of ebay...

      My reason for wanting the drilled/slotted rotors is that the lumina is a pretty heavy car, I drive pretty hard, and warping happens regularly. The more I research the more mixed messages I get. I've just read that warping occurs more on drilled rotors due to integrity loss. I'm trying to extend the life of my rotors, reduce fade and also be safer all around. Other than saying " I wouldn't buy anything that important off of ebay..." any other suggestions?

        Drilled seems the better choice for a street car although they can be prone to cracking in severe driving. Slotted rotors just chew the heck out of brake pads. The combination is popular but as you said, at the cost of a weaker rotor.


        I would recommend drilled + good pads from a reputable business. Ebay parts are way too easy to fake, you never know what you are going to get. You'll pay more for peace of mind, but if you drive the way you describe it'll be worth it.

          Have the rotors cyro treated. That will make them last longer

            I am going to recommend slotted rotors and stay away from drilled unless you are hot lapping an autocross course or road racing. Slotted rotors still dissipate heat better than stock rotors do without taking anything away from the integrity of the rotor. Also I bought some drilled and slotted rotors for my stock 99 cavalier off ebay and they cracked between the holes after about 8 months. Your money would be better spent on a better brand and a good set of Hawk or EBC pads.

              bribe a friend with a CNC mill, bring blank rotors of whatever brand you want, walk out with fancy new rotors?

              i've seen a lot of failed drilled rotors to ever consider them, slotted seems to work well from what i've seen, i have to wonder if putting a radius on the slot edges would slow down pad wear without giving up braking capability?
              1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

                That may be the trick. Needs a lot of testing though.

                I see that they are adding a radius to the edges on the drilled holes now, that's supposed to help...


                I ran stock type rotors on my Z24 with "premium" pads and never had any problems, it probably had 100+ track passes slowing down from 100+ MPH plus street abuse. It was a lighter car though.
