  • Alero/GAGT Experts?

Haven't messed with these cars much but i noticed my neighbor's front sway bar mounts are pretty jacked. Is this common?

The metal cap over the bushing is just floating there. Any advice for replacement?

    Thanks

This is an issue I've seen before, where the sway bar midpoint brackets have pulled right out of the subframe. It's an odd arrangement; the subframe is notched for the front of the bracket, and the bracket bolts to the subframe in the rear. In cases I've seen, the subframe was faulty and had to be replaced.

Upon closer inspection I just don't think that bracket was installed correctly. Here is what mine looks like - bear in mind I have an aftermarket (larger) sway bar.

        Very interesting, thanks!

I was under there but didn't look very closely. I'll have to get her car back in the garage next weekend and see if i can get that bracket to go on like yours.

I wonder if i disconnect the endlinks if I can raise up the bar and get the brackets to hook into the subframe on the front side.. then figure out how they attach on the back.

What you'll need to do is lower the back of the front subframe a few inches so that you have room to maneuver the midpoint brackets into the correct position. It's a royal pain without a lift, but it can be done with a jack and stands.
