  • I think I need a track alignment...

did this at an auto cross today. put 2 more runs on the tire after this pic lol. I went into a corner way too fast and turned too sharp, basically slid but I dont think I hit the cones

what specs would you use? the car isnt daily driven anymore, just driven to the races mostly. It also sees the drag strip

Kinda depends on what tires you will be using.
Road-race or autocross tires will want more negative camber than you can safely use on a street tire.
Also, what works well for auto-x won't work that well for drag racing.

I just run durezza star specs. "ultra high performance" street tires but not R compound.. I use those for street and autox. then hoosier drag radials for drag. I have read a little negetive camber helps with drag racing because when the front lifts up it levels the tires out, but I have koni yellows and there pretty solid so im not sure how much the front lifts up yet, havent gotten a video yet

I'm familiar with the Z1 Star Specs.....great tire for the price, but I've had issues with them chunking up.
I run 3 degrees of negative camber up front with 1/8" of toe-out. In back, 2 degrees of negative camber with zero toe.

what tires do you run? is your car independient rear suspension? I dont think I have any adjustment in the rear.

Right now I'm on a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE-01Rs. Still a street tire, but similar in design and intended use to the Dunlops.
Yes, I have independent rear suspension.
I'm nowhere near fast enough to need something like a Hoosier R6.

I ran the RE-01Rs on my old Street Touring Saturn SC2 and they were the hot tire of the class. Great tires for such a light car.

I've got a set of Victoracers for the Z24 for this coming season, basically DOT approved slicks (50 treadwear). Planning on running at least 2 degrees neg camber up front. Can't do anything in back really without basically rebuilding the rear end.

If I were gonna be running in a street tire class, I'd probably look at picking up some Kumho Ecsta XS. Those tires seem to love thrashings from "heavier" cars without much complaint.

The motor's holding me back at this point, not the tires. Hopefully that will be remedied soon.

Current suspension is what it had when I got it from Dave - Sprint springs, Gabriel shocks/struts, stock sway bars. Plan is Konis all around with the Sprints (have the rears, ordering 3rd gen J front inserts soon), Beretta rear axle with internal and external bar with the Chrysler rear disc swap. Hope to have all this done in the next 3-4 months.

I only plan to AutoX this car for a year or two. I'm looking for a dedicated track rat to build after I get moved into a house down here.

ah, I didnt know dave sold his car. I have konis all around with eibachs. there amazing. seems to handle best at full soft (which is 50x stiffer than the kyb gr2/gas a just).

I bought his Z back in October.

Eager to see how well this thing does with the Konis on it. Hitting my first event the first weekend in April.

my drag radials are mounted on an extra pair of GTZ wheels. 16x7 i think. well maybe not 50% stiffer but its a HUGE difference. when there on full stiff I cant move the car when I jump on it.
