  • ABS Light. Question? Wheel speed sensor?

Ok so my ABS light is on again. I start the car and idle it is not on, start moving and it comes on after about 20feet. Sometimes it doesnt come on but usually it does. Most of the time its just the ABS light but sometimes its also the BRAKE light. whats the easiest way to determine if its a wheel speed sensor or somthing else? If i jack up the the car and spin each wheel seporate, will that cause the faulty wheel speed sensor to click the light on?

uhhhmmmmmmmmm, maybe . . . but it won't be because you spun the one with the bad sensor. You can either use a digital volt ohm meter to make physical checks of the circuits at the control module connector or use a scanner to check the code and verify by watching the data stream for the indicated circuit fault. Are we talking about your W body?

Yeah, W-body. i used a multi meter and all sensors are putting out comparable numbers as the next.... might be something else... Thinkin i have a ground problem again.

Check the tone rings on the front axles. They can get gunked up and cause bad readings. Especially after a CV boot leaks...

The ABS system is hard to diagnose without a scanner that can read the codes.

We need the trouble code/s to continue. Generic scanners will not do it, ABS codes do not read out over common OBD equipment. Get a buddy with a GM ABS capable scanner to give up the code.
