  • I need a pic, suspension related pls.

anyone have a 1992 Olds achieva of grand am? 2 door/gt/sport suspension?
I'm think the 92 achieva SC I bought has been...."modified."

All the catalogs state they have standard bolt through style sway bar end links.

For some reason, mine has the newer "tie-rod" style. I'd like a pic if you guys have a pic for that year. The 4-doors are different, some 2-doors may have "soft ride" suspension, and they changed the front end, I think, in 93. I need a comparison, the guys at the part store think I'm nuts.
sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

Best way to go is to have the dealer confirm the F (suspension) codes for your VIN# . . . Oldsmobile was famous throughout the eighties and nineties for suspension oddities. Is the options decal still in the car? What F code/s does it show?

called several dealers, and parts stores, no go, part discontinued and local part stores have no cross over or idea what i'm talking about. I have a W44 package achieva, like the W41 but no markings and rear drum brakes.

need GM part number 7477204 need 2 of.

anyone find them, let me know, thx.

That's 7 digits. GM part numbers are 8. Have you checked on www.rockauto.com or www.gmpartsdirect.com?

Ah Ha! You have FE3 suspension. An option made popular on the Toronado. As for the part number starting with a 7 instead of 17, that has to do with the age of vehicle we are talking about. Some parts were actually carried over from 87-89 model year platforms in one fashion or another. Have you had a dealer parts center check the part number for superceded part number information? Sometimes the reason you can't find an older part is that the number has changed, often several times.

more info, your hitting the nail on the head Fiero. 7477204 (18mm) 1st design 1992 only, discontinued. 22537956 (30mm) 2nd design 92-93. No further info on that one yet. Here's whats throwing me. The links that are on there now are 2 different sizes, which is what made me look into replaceing them, right side is 10.5" long, ball-to-ball. which leaves about .5" clearence to the control arm. (connects sway bar end to mid strut.) Left side is 11" long, ball-to-ball, and is in direct contact to the control arm and you can see the end of the sway bar is tweeked. What does the 18mm and 30 mm designate? The sway bar is 28mm diameter. Only diagram I found is here, thats correct, mostly.

This is the only site that has come close and the place I got the 2nd number from. I would rather have this confirmed before I go and order a part through the net just to find out its wrong and have to go through the hassle of returning it.

                GMpartdirect had nothing.

talked to dealer with new part number, they had them on shelf, not correct. 2nd part number goes back to bolt/pin style, not ball end. I'm stuck with having to get the correct link or I'll have to change the whole sway bar. If I have to do that, then I'll go addco.

I've decided to say, "screw it" and make my own with rod-ends. Anyone have a stock end link they can measure from center of ball socket to center of ball socket and give me the legnth. that will help alot. thx
