  • Tubular Control Arms

    I am starting fresh here.

The last topic was all littered with different ideas being thrown back and forth all over the place, but this is for a tubular STEEL control arm for 1st gen W's.

These will be made for 1st gen W's with the stock location for the ball joint. They will have heim joints at the end for adjustment, no poly bushings.

What will these do? These will be lighter, stronger and a solid steel arm with no rubber.

If you are interested in these the price will be $350 for the pair Powdercoated Black. I will be making a set for my car in the next month or so.

    Tubular steel: 5.4lbs, Stock 6.5lbs

            Looks like excellent quality!

Is there a reason you went with Hiems vs using the stock configuration and poly suspension inserts? On the f-bodies we use one Hiem for adjustment.

Look on his site for more quality parts. I enjoy seeing others take pride in their work.

If only one attachment is adjustable, any adjustment will change the camber and caster at the same time. Two adjustable joints gives independent adjustment of camber and caster. Definitely important on a 1st gen W-body since you cannot use a camber kit to change camber.

It also allows the arm to be lengthened or shortened changing the camber curve or to correct changes made by lowering the car.

I am using a similar idea on my S-10 for the upper control arm. What is really nice is you can loosen the jamb nuts and adjust them and watch the alignment change in real time on the alignment rack. Makes it easy to dial it in.
