  • Wheel backspacing

I (and probably others) need an explaination of backspacing. What the differece is between negative and positive backspacing, just so I'm certain before I jump into buying my new wheels. I know the bolt pattern is 5-115 (not 114.3).

I also have a question about the back spacing requirements. I'm looking at a set of 17's for my 92 Z34, and I think I read somewhere that anything under 38mm backspacing would fit... is that correct? If so, then this size should fit: 17X8 5-115 35C -- where 35 is the backspacing (in MM)... C just means chrome (according to that site).

So... back spacing less than 38 will push the wheel out more than stock?

Also has anyone ever owned a set of Voxx wheels? Any comments?

The dimension you're referring to sounds more like offset, which is not the same as backspacing.

Backspacing is the distance of the mounting surface from the backside of the wheel, whereas offset is the distance of the mounting surface from the centerline of the wheel.
