Beretta steering rack

  • Question : Beretta steering rack

    Buying a beretta z26 tomorrow and the steering rack is messed... you can turn it a quarter turn each way left or right and the rack is moving not the tires.. the rack moves inside the rubber mounts.. So whats going on here..

    Probably rotted off the bulk head or the mounts busted off. They are not pleasant to do let a lone tack in new metal.

        Better hope its the mounts. To extract a broken bolt will require dropping the rack... In a V6 Beretta it gets involved.

                well just got inside from working on the Z... And yes it is rusted.. So Some Fabrication is now needed to get this to work again... There is a huge rust hole... Is this a common problem with these cars??

                  None of my cars have ever had that problem (knock on wood) but I read about it a lot. Another place to look for rot is the rockers.
